Biographical Note
Harry Babb was the son of pioneer Edgar S. Babb, who fought in the Bannock Indian War of 1878. Harry Babb managed his father’s properties and cared for his widowed mother.
Content Description
The collection consists of correspondence and affidavits to and from Harry Babb regarding the Bannock Indian War of 1878. Babb’s father was a member of a company of Washington Volunteers organized at Wallula. In order to obtain a pension for his mother, Harry Babb was seeking to document the existence of the volunteer company and to substantiate her pension claims. The letters chronicle Edgar Babb’s service and include considerable detail about the Bannock Indian War.
