Content Description
Collection consists of 12 blueprint sheets of plans by Herman S. Brookman, an architect in Portland, Oregon. The plans, dated 1925, 1948, and 1952, are for a residence in Portland, and for subsequent additions and alterations to the house. The 1952 plans give the address as 2823 NW Cumberland Road, which was originally 1101 Cumberland Road.
The 1925 plans consist of 7 sheets labeled as being a residence for Dr. Thomas M. Joyce. They consist of three sheets of floor plans, one each for the cellar, first floor, and second floor; one sheet with plans for the front, north, south, and east elevations, as well as two section plans; one sheet with garden elevation plans and details of the dining room ceiling and living room bay window; one sheet with an attic floor and roof plan; and one sheet with various detail and section plans.
The 1948 drawings, labeled as the residence of Dr. and Mrs. Richard F. Berg, consist of two sheets. One is a first-floor plan that shows the addition of a breakfast room and greenhouse, with section plans for the breakfast room. The other sheet is a garden elevation, showing south, north, and west elevations of the new breakfast room and greenhouse.
The 1952 plans, labeled as the house of Mr. and Mrs. Melvyn C. Friendly, consist of three sheets: One showing section plans for alterations to the breakfast room; one showing sections and elevations of details for the boudoir, kitchen, and breakfast room; and one showing a finished floor plan of kitchen alterations.
