Historical Note
In 1936, the Works Progress Administration's Federal Theatre Project undertook a year-long survey of all available information about the history of professional dramatic activities in Washington State. Research for the project involved the examination of approximately 160,000 pages in 93 Washington newspapers and 3 magazines, and produced approximately 53,000 typed pages of verbatim transcripts of articles and notices. Howard Grant was the Director of the survey and was responsible to Glenn Hughes, Regional Advisor, and Guy Williams, State Director.
