Biographical Note

William L. Stanley (1839-1918) was born in Ireland. Sarah Baker (1853-1910) was born in Iowa. William and Sarah married in 1869. Together they had 5 children: Maggie (1871), John Luther (1875), Sadie (1880), Ida (1885), Josephine (1893). Ida married George Cessna.

Collection contains: 536 mounted and unmounted black and white prints and snapshots of streetcars and public transportation in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Everett, Bellingham, Yakima, Bellingham, and British Columbia (1900-1950); miscellaneous images of Seattle views, parades, Yellowstone National Park, Eastern Canada, Great Britain, aerial views of France; Stanley family portraits; other identified and unidentified portraits. Also includes 5 albums with 688 black and white snapshots of Stanley family and home life (1900-1915), Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE)(1909), Navy life on board ship and shore leave in California (1920s-1940s). Also includes 15 black and white prints of the Stanley and Worden partnership in the Klondike (1897) and in Seattle (1901-1911).
