Historical Note

Georgette Stiff Amos was born 21 December 1915 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clyde K. and Agnes Hanley Stiff. She received training as a nurse from Missouri Baptist Hospital. She married Harold C. Amos in St. Louis in 1942. In 1945 they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she was employed by Bryant Memorial hospital until 1954. They moved to Moscow in 1954. Harold Amos was associated with the industrial education department at the University of Idaho and Georgette began working at Gritman Hospital. She retired in 1981. She attended the University of Idaho and graduated in 1985 with a degree in history. She was an active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Retired University Wives, as well as the university and community theaters, where she acted and directed several productions. Harold died in April 1976 and Georgette died 15 September 2000 in Moscow, Idaho.
