Biographical Note
Born in Germany, Peter Damm emigrated with his family to Shanghai in 1939 and lived there until 1947 when they moved to the United States. In 1960, Damm opened his own printing shop in Seattle, Damm Fine Printing, which he operated until 1999.
Content Description
2 audiocassetes and one transcript from an oral history interview conducted by Steve Adler on March 14, 2007. Damm discusses his family history in Germany and his family's persecution as Jews under the Nazis. He describes their emigration and life in Shanghai where his family lived for eight years as well as the printing business he operated for nearly 40 years in Seattle.
Also contains photocopies of photographs and documents, such as Red Cross refugee and immigration papers, in German and English, referred to by Damm in his interview.
