Summary
The office of Student Affairs dealt with the social, cultural, and recreational needs of students, including the administration of dormitories and financial aid. Prior to 1973, the office was known as the Dean of Students. In 1978 the current name of Student Affairs and Services was adopted. During the period covered by these records, Virginia P. Frobes (1965-1970) and Michael J. Patton (1970-1971) served as Dean of Students and Franklin L. McKean (1973-1974) and L. Jackson Newell (1974-1978) served as Dean of Student Affairs. Content Description

The collection contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, and meeting minutes concerning the administration of programs for students. Principal subjects covered are student organizations, student housing, scholastic standards, career development activities, and minority programs. Also included are commencement records (1973-1977), and files of the Counseling Center (1970-1978), Ethnic Student Affairs (1969-1976), the Liberal Education Council (1974-1977), and the Placement and Career Development Center (1971-1977).
