Biographical NoteReturn to Top
In 1881, the Gallatin County Commissioners appropriated $4,000 to purchase 160 acres of land between what is now 11th avenue and 19th avenue. These 160 acres became what was known as the Gallatin County Poor Farm. Eventually the county sold half of the 160 acres to the college to help form its establishment. Over time many of the buildings from this farm were sold off or given away. By 1964 all remaining buildings from the farm were torn down.
