Content Description

Collection of 57 black and white photographs and 1 color photograph, including duplicates, that relate to Jantzen, Inc., an apparel manufacturer in Portland, Oregon. Most of the prints have handwritten information on the back. A substantial number of the photographs depict Jantzen buildings, both exteriors and interiors. The interior scenes show rooms, employees, and equipment, including images of employees using sewing, knitting, and spinning machines; pictures of dyeing and dyeing machines; office scenes; and an image of a lunchroom. Other photographs in the collection depict people wearing Jantzen swimwear; Jantzen models on the USS Oregon; Jantzen sports teams, including a volleyball team, baseball and softball teams, and a women's basketball team; and photographs from an employee climb on Mount Hood. Also in the collection are two copies of a panoramic group portrait, one framed, taken at a 1925 employee picnic.
