Historical Note

Spokane Area Development Council, an offshoot of the Spokane Chamber of Commerce, was incorporated in May of 1974 with Omar Lofgren as its first president. Its purpose is to create new employment opportunities by attracting new business and industry to the Spokane, Washington area and to assist local business and industry to achieve recognition and growth.

Content Description

This file consists largely of statistical information (up through 1978) gathered by an in-house economic research team in support of both its own efforts and those of the Spokane Chamber of Commerce. Funding is provided by the City of Spokane, Spokane County and local business and industry through the Spokane Chamber of Commerce and the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce. The materials covers a variety of business-related topics, including wage surveys, statistics on manpower, unemployment, and building permits and cost of living, and banking information.
