Biographical Note

Iwami worked at the Seattle Buddhist Nursery and then worked as a secretary for the Seattle Public Schools until 1986. She then operated a catering business while continuing to volunteer in the Seattle Public Schools.

Iwami was born in 1921, married her husband Kenichi, a Kibei, in 1943, and raised five children.

Memoir, told by Sachiko Iwami and written by Joyce E. Feldmiller.

Mrs. Iwami describes her family background, early life and schooling, the war years, her career and family, and her retirement. She describes her and her husband's wartime uprooting in considerable detail. Included are photocopies of photos of her, her friends, and her family.
