Rev. Richard B. Dilworth Jr. and his first wife, Mary G. McLean, lived in Snohomish and on Vashon Island.
Content Description
6 letters from Rev.Richard B. Dilworth (Jr.) and his wife, Mary G. McLean Dilworth, dating from 1886 during the Dilworths' residence in Snohomish and on Vashon Island. Three of the letters are from Richard B. Dilworth to his mother, and the other three are from Mary Dilworth to her brother-in-law, James R. Dilworth. The letters discuss family health concerns, the Chautauqua Assembly, the Calvary Church in Portland, a potential teaching position at an unnamed Indian Reservation in Idaho, Gardiner's Beach on Vashon Island, Fort Scott in Kansas, and Richard Dilworth's planned climb of Mount Rainier "Mt. Tacoma" in August 1886 with in a party of fourteen people. A letter also mentions that seven women climbed Mt. Rainier in the summer of 1886.
