Historical Note
Michael J. Horan was a distinguished professor in the Political Science Department at the University of Wyoming. Born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1938, he completed his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. at Georgetown University, graduating in 1966. After serving as a Captain in the United States Army, he joined the faculty in Laramie, Wyoming. Over his 37-year teaching career, he earned numerous awards, including the John P. Ellbogen Lifetime Teaching Award and the 2009 College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Former Faculty Award. He also co-authored the textbook, "The Equality State: Government and Politics in Wyoming." Dr. Horan retired in 2004 and passed away in 2012.

This collection contains teaching materials for Dr. Horan’s classes, newspaper articles, first day covers and literature related to Horan’s collecting hobby and a copy of Dr. Horan’s coauthored book “The Equality State: Government and Politics in Wyoming".
