Photographs in this collection are from the James T. Harwood family collection of personal imagery. Madge Tomsic received this collection of photographs from Willard Harwood (James T. Harwood's brother), James T. Harwood was Madge Tomsic's great Uncle. All but 1 photograph in this collection are black and white prints, including 4 oversize photographs, 5 8x10 photographs, 45 5x7 photographs, 38 small photographs, 1 newspaper clipping with photo, and 1 Christmas card.Many of these images are contact prints or photos of other photos/paintings.
James T. Harwood was a well known Utah painter in the 1920's. He was first married to Harriet Richards, they had four children, Willard, Heber James, June, and Ruth. Harriet died in 1922 and James T. Harwood was later married to Ione. They had two children together, Lark and Vern-Jim. After James T. Harwood died, Ione had another child by John Adelman Peterson, Rose Adelle Peterson. This collection includes family and individual portraits of James T. Harwood's brothers and sisters, as well as his wives and children, and also includes some photographs of his paintings.
Many of the photographs have writing on the back to identify the people in the photographs as well as their relation to James T. Harwood.
