Biographical Note
Daniel Dwight was born in Dudley, M.A. He attended Nicholl’s Academy and taught school in Dudley. He came to Spokane Falls in 1887, where he entered the real estate business. His major holding, the Falls City Block, was lost in the fire of 4 August 1889, but he rebuilt immediately. The new building housed the Falls City Opera House, reputed to have been one of the larger auditoriums in the West at the time.
Daniel Dwight was active in business and civic affairs. He served on the Spokane Board of Education, was a member of the Spokane City Council during the difficult reconstruction period after the fire of 1889, and served on the city parks board.
