Maurice P. Alger (1866-1961) was born in Trenton, New York, and educated at St. John's School in Manlius, New York. In 1908 he was commissioned third lieutenant in the Philippine Constabulary, rose to grade of captain, and retired in 1918. He later went into business in the Philippine Islands.

The collection contains diaries, personnel records and general orders, manuals, language books of Tagalog and Ilocano languages, issues of a Constabulary officers bulletin, and issues of American Old-timer.
Alger's diaries from when he was in the Constabulary are from, 1908-1917.
Other Constabulary materials include a personnel file, general orders (1903), and manuals.
The collection also contains issues of American Old-timer (Manila), vol. 7, nos. 1-5, vol. 8, nos. 3-7 (1940-1941), and a file of the Bulletin of the Philippine Constabulary Officers Association, nos. 1-10, 12-14 (1950-1962).
With the papers are language books of Taglog grammer, Taglog-English and Taglog-Spanish dictionaries, a book about the Iloco language, and a manual and dictionary of English-Ilocano (1904-1909).
