Biographical Note

Edward Wenk Jr. (1920-2012) completed his bachelor of engineering degree in 1940 and received a doctorate in engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1950. He began his career as a practicing engineer. Later, he served as a science policy advisor to the U.S. Congress and then on the staffs of three presidents. In 1970, he joined the University of Washington faculty and held joint appointments in the College of Engineering and the Graduate School of Public Affairs. His research and writing have focused on international, national and regional science and technology policy issues.
