Historical NoteReturn to Top

Frank Ankenbrand Jr. rented a room in the home of Homer L. Pound, which connected him to the writings of Ezra Pound, an American poet who was born in Hailey, ID. Ankenbrand's relationship with Homer L. Pound often led to conversations about Ezra Pound. Ezra Pound reshaped the American poetry scene and inspired some of America's great poets of the early and mid-1900's. Ezra self-exiled himself, moving from the United States to London, England, to avoid punishment from the United States due to his beliefs that aligned with the Fascist beliefs of the Italian leader, Mussolini, and his push for the patronage of the arts. Homer and Ankenbrand both kept paper clippings of Ezra's exploits and later collected the works and news of Ezra's daughter, Mary de Rachewiltz, a poet and educator.
