Content Description

The Stereocards Collection consists of stereo photographs (also known as stereographs) taken, published, and sold by a variety of professional photographers primarily between the 1860s and 1910s. These double images mounted side by side on a single card were captured using a twin-lens camera which offset one picture 2 1/2 inches from the other. When the cards were viewed through a stereoscope, a three-dimensional effect was produced to the human eye.
