Historical Note
KUER radio (90.1 FM) is a public radio station serving the State of Utah and is licensed to the University of Utah. KUER radio began broadcasting in June 1960. It featured a programming format of a mix of eclectic music. In 1971, National Public Radio (NPR) made its debut on KUER. The NPR Program of All Things Considered has been a favorite of KUER listeners since then. In 1983, Morning Edition was added to KUER's lineup.
For its first thirty years KUER's format was a mix of news, classical music and jazz. In March 2001, KUER changed to an all news and talk and jazz music format in response to a two-year review of audience data and station revenue.
