Content Description

The original photographs in the collection were arranged in three handmade cardboard scrapbooks bound with shoelaces. They were divided by location and by date: Scrapbook [1] North Africa, 1943-1944, (17 pages, 140 photographs); Scrapbook [2] Besancon, France, 1943-1944-1945, (29 pages, 218 photographs); and Scrapbook [3] during the Mediterranean Voyage, in Southern France, during a train trip to Besancon, at Besancon, in Paris, trips to small towns, the Swiss border and the trip back home to the States, 1943-1944-1945. The photographs show the hospital facilities, staff, and activities of the hospital staff. Of special interest are the photographs of landscapes, homes, and people in daily activities in each locale.
