Biographical Note

The Jardine Gold Mining and Milling Company was incorporated under Arizona law by W. S. Hunnewell, H. C. Bacorn, and J. E. Healy. The offices were in Butte and the mines at Jardine, Montana. In 1917 it reorganized under Montana law as the Jardine Mining Company. The company consolidated the properties of several earlier companies mining in the Bear Gulch area.

The bulk of the collection consists of records of the Jardine Mining Company (1917-1949), including financial volumes, reports, correspondence, organizational materials, printed materials, legal documents, etc.

There are subgroups for the Bear Gulch Mining Company (1898-1903), including correspondence, financial records, organizational materials, and production records; for the Kimberly Montana Gold Mining Company (1899-1930s), including correspondence, court papers, legal documents, organizational records, and production records; for the King Solomon Quartz and Placer Mining Company (1899-1904), including a stockholder ledger and a tunnel survey; for the Legal Tender Mining Company (1899-1900), consisting of a stockholder journal; for the Montana Consolidated Gold Mining Company (1898-1914), consisting of court papers and a stockholder ledger; for the Rademont Mining Company (1946-1947), consisting of a general journal; and for the Revenue Mining Company (1946), consisting of a stock certificate book.
