Historical Note

Construction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital began in 1994 and was completed in 1996. This hospital houses sophisticated diagnostic and treatment technologies available such as MRIs, CT scanning, ultrasounds, endoscopy, arthroscopy, and radiation therapy. Fourth-year professional veterinary students and postgraduate students (interns, residents, and graduate students) work together with clinical faculty and staff to diagnose and treat patients.

Prior to the construction of this building, veterinary hospital materials had been housed in WSU’s McCoy Hall.

Content Description

This collection consists of approximately 2,300 photographs of the construction site and construction process, and one folder of documents regarding the project schedule and timeline. The photos are organized into four series: Architect's Site Photos, Site Overview Photos, VTH Photos Soft Soils, and WSU Attorney General Photographs.

Two folders of project planning documents follow the photographs. First is a single folder of print project schedule and timeline documents. After that is a single folder containing two 3.5" floppy disks, which hold approximately 20 P3 files in total. These were created using Primavera P3, a common project planning software used for construction projects at the time. The MASC does not have the required software to open these files. The files have been copied to the MASC's digital archives and are retained there as well.
