Historical Note

Jolafern "Jolly" Hayden Torgerson Crawley was born on October 10, 1923 and grew up in Tacoma, Washington. She matriculated at University of Puget Sound (then College of Puget Sound) in 1941 and graduated in 1945 with a degree in Sociology. During her college years, she was president of Tri Delta sorority, active in the Campus Playcrafters Theatre, and served on the editorial staff of The Trail. She later earned a master's degree and was a social worker in the Seattle and Federal Way areas from 1950-1985. In retirement, she traveled to more than 80 countries. She died Spetember 26, 2022, two weeks shy of her 99th birthday.
