Content Description
Diary of Marjorie Mercedes Miller MacDonald. The diary has 232 pages of daily entries and poem drafts from October 31, 1941 to April 19, 1942. Marjorie writes about her domestic activities as a high school instructor in Bremerton, WA; her emotional development and attachment to a man named Jack; her processing of the attack on Pearl Harbor and its subsequent aftermath; her activities in Seattle; and her poetry.
Biographical Note
Marjorie Mercedes Miller was born on February 13, 1913 in Seattle, WA. Her parents were John W. Miller and Florence Lovetinsky, and her siblings were Alice V. Miller (Pearson), Charles W. Miller, and Josephine I. Miller. From at least 1940-1942, Marjorie was single, living in Bremerton, WA and working as a teacher. She married Robert James Brian MacDonald, and died at age 79 in Seattle, WA on October 20, 1992.
