Biographical Note

Professor of history, University of Washington.

Edith Dobie (circa 1890-1975) was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania. She was educated at Syracuse University, University of Chicago, and Stanford University where she earned a Ph.D., 1926. Dobie came to University of Washington as an instructor in 1926, and taught as a professor until 1957 in the field of British History. She wrote "Political Career of Stephen Mallory White" and edited with H.H. Gowen "Problems in International Understanding" as well as numberous articles in professional journals.
