Historical Note
Reverend George C. Enders was a professor of Christian education. He was born on August 31, 1869 in Sidney, Ohio. He obtained his first teachers certificate in Shelby County in 1889 and taught at various public schools while working on his seminary and college degrees. He married Bessie Kelley on August 20, 1893 and they had a daughter, Ruth in 1903. Enders received his first two degrees from Oberlin College in 1904 and his masters degree from Union Christian College in 1905, where he taught Christian education from 1905-1907. Enders and his family moved to Jireh, Wyoming in 1908 and he became the first president of Jireh College from 1909-1910. Jireh College operated from 1910-1920 and graduated its first class of 2 in 1913. In 1910 Enders and his family moved to Defiance, Ohio where he taught at Defiance College and became a professor of English, philosophy, psychology, and the Dean of the Christian and Biblical Institute. He served in those positions until his retirement. Enders died on March 16, 1966 at the age of 96.
