Biographical Note
Michael Powers was born in San Francisco in 1863. He came to Seattle in 1886, and served on the Seattle police force from 1890-1923. From 1908-1910 and 1911-1923, he was Captain of the Ballard Station. He was appointed a detective in 1897 and made sergeant in 1901. After retiring from the police force in 1923, he worked for The Seattle Times, but left because of ill health. He returned to San Francisco with his wife, where he received letters from a nephew in Seattle, Ralph English. Powers returned to Seattle in 1925 and died June 14, 1925.
