Historical Note
The Iowa State Conservation Commission began in 1917 as the State Board of Conservation and was given the primary duties to manage the state parks as well as make recommendations for state park land. In 1986, the commission along with the Department of Water, Air and Waste Management, Geological Survey, and parts of the Energy Policy Council were consolidated into one overarching department called the Department of Natural Resources.

Collection contains quarterly biology reports for the years 1965-1968; Iowa Cooperative Wildlife and Fisheries Research Units quarterly reports from 1955; and 35 pamphlets on outdoor recreation.
