"Three Old Plainsmen" by Robert Bruce, regarding drivers of ox-teams in the far West before the days of the railroads; "Initiation of a Bullwhacker" by Albert H. Baiseley, regarding the proud moment of a New York boy on the plains ca. 1866; "Echoes of the Old West" by Col. George W. Stokes, regarding a "hossman's" recollections of more than 60 years, which include the rise, height and eclipse of stage coach travel and wagon freighting; "A Frontier Episode" by R. B., regarding tense moments on the plains recalled by a former bullwhacker - a conversation between William Francis Hooker and A. H. Oleson.
