Historical Note

Andrew W. Kramer (1893-1993) was a mountaineer and mountaineering guide who served in the Canadian Rockies for twenty seasons. He traveled and climbed in more than 200 countries. He was a member of the American Alpine Club since 1945.

Content Description

The collection contains issues of Canadian Alpine Journal and American Alpine Journal, as well as other mountaineering publications, catalogs and pamphlets. Also included are photographs from mountaineering expeditions taken by Andrew Kramer from the 1930s through the 1960s. The collection also includes Andrew Kramer's autobiography, The Life and Times of AWK, Andrew W. Kramer, 1893-1993, which was published in limited edition.
