Edwards made collages and wrote poetry during his time in San Francisco as well as during his later life in Arizona and Utah. He maintained friendships with many of the artists and poets from the Beat, San Francisco Renaissance, and Black Mountain movements, including Lewis Ellingham, Bill McNeill, Helen Adam, Joanne Kyger, Knute Stiles, Larry Fagin, Robert Duncan, and Russel Fitzgerald.
