Margaret Gibson Smith (1825-1869) was born on 13 March, 1825 in Paisly, Scotland. Her parents were John Gibson and Mary Davis. She was baptized into the LDS church in 1846 and later on, while crossing the plains of the midwestern United States during her immigration to Utah, she met John B. Smith, and they were married in April 1851 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Margaret had ten children: Adam, Mary, John, Margaret, William, Martha, George, Ellen, James, and Marion. In Utah, John and Margaret settled in Pine Canyon, known today as Lincoln. Margaret died in April 1869 and was buried in Tooele, Utah, and John died on 29 October 1900.
