Content DescriptionReturn to Top

This collection includes a college scrapbook created by Minnie Ellen Paugh, which documents her college career at Montana State College (now Montana State University) in Bozeman and Montana State University in Missoula (now University of Montana). The bulk of the scrapbooks focuses on her freshman and sophomore college years at Montana State College (MSC) from 1937-1938. The scrapbook largely documents student life and contains programs from theater and music performances Paugh attended, as well as invitations from sororities and student clubs. Other items documenting student life include student handbooks, programs for football and basketball games, poems, and lyrics to campus songs. The scrapbooks also contain some items related to her academic career including her student schedule, registration receipts, and personal expense book.

The second half of the scrapbook features Paugh's academic career after she transferred to Montana State University in Missoula (MSU) between 1939 and 1941. Items from MSU similarly include theater and music performance programs, student handbooks, songs, poems, and invitation cards. The scrapbook only contains a small amount of information documenting Paugh's academic career, and focuses most heavily on student life and entertainment, friends, and social engagements.

Other items in the album include graduation invitations, marriage notices, and baby announcements from friends and acquaintances. The back of the album also contains loose items from the MSC High School Week in May 1937. These items include a group photographs of Montana high school students at a banquet, programs, and correspondence related to Paugh's intent to attend the college.
