Historical Note

Hadassah is a not-for-profit women's organization founded in 1912 to provide health care in Palestine. Throughout Hadassah's history, its leaders have been instrumental in development of Israel as an independent Jewish state. Seattle chapter was part of the North Pacific Coast Region, which was renamed the Pacific Northwest Region in 1989. It established the Nearly New Shop, a thrift shop, in 1965. Helen Feinberg was manager of the shop.

The Seattle chapter of Hadassah began in 1920 with a membership of fifteen women. It has been active in community projects and fundraisers promoting the Jewish community both local and international.
