Historical Note

Adelbert (Bert) Hole Lindley, Jr. (1918–1971) was a mining engineer and executive with Minbanco Corporation and the U.S. Bureau of Mines. Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1918, Lindley earned his mining degree from Alma College and Michigan Technological University. He held academic appointments at the School of Mines in Golden, Colorado—where he met his wife, Lucille Wolford Lindley, in 1947—and at the graduate school at Columbia University. He later served as a special studies coordinator for the U.S. Bureau of Mines and worked as a consultant and mineral advisor to commercial banks, mining corporations, and the investment banking firm Lehman Brothers. Lindley was president of Minbanco Corporation in New York until shortly before his death in 1971.
