Historical NoteReturn to Top

Lyman Dwight Wilbur (1900-2001) was a civil engineer. He worked for Standard Oil and was the designer of the Merced Irrigation District. Wilbur then served as district manager, chief engineer, vice president, and board chairman for the Morrison-Knudsen Co. He was also the president of the International Engineering Company.

Collection contains newspaper clippings, biographical information, engineering magazines, reprints, and a speech by M. M. O’Shaughnessy; numerous reports concerning the State of California Department of Public Works, irrigation projects in the Merced Irrigation District, the Hetch Hetchy Water Supply and Power Project, the Los Angeles Aqueduct, and other projects; and maps of proposed dams for Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, the Yukon Diversion Power Project, and Alaska-British Columbia.
