Mitchell D. Wright came to Washington Territory in 1879 and purchased land from the Northern Pacific Railroad. He also homesteaded U.S. government lands under the Timber Culture Act. Wright was elected Justice of the Peace for Rock Creek Precinct, Spokane County, in 1882.

The collection consists of correspondence dealing with land purchases and transfers in the Rock Creek area southeast of Spokane, 1876-1899, and includes correspondence with the Northern Pacific Railroad Land Office at Colfax, W.T., 1880. Also included is a list of children in School District 13, 1881-1882, and a poll book for Rock Creek precinct no. 70, 1882.
