Biographical Note

Edward Morris Whitesides (1865-1960) served as Davis County School superintendent for eight years. Prior to that time, he had served as a teacher and principle for thirty-nine years. He served two terms on the board of trustees of the Utah Education Association. Whitesides also organized and managed the first Layton Water system for twenty-five years. He served several terms on the Layton City Council. Whitesides went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to California from 1895 to 1897. For forty years, he was the secretary treasurer of the Morgan Brothers Land and Livestock Company.
