Historical Note

Civilian Public Service (CPS) was set up to provide alternative service for conscientious objectors during World War II. This unique church-state partnership established a program in which over 12,000 men performed "work of national importance" primarily in camps administered by the historic peace churches (the Brethren, Friends, and Mennonites). This collection includes a sampling of newsletters put together and written by the conscientious objectors of some of these camps

This collection includes newsletters, mostly 8.5 x 11 inch stapled sheets produced by mimeograph. In some cases facsimile copies have been included.
