Biographical Note

Fred Lewis Markham (1902-1984), was born to Joseph and Mary Katharine Lewis Markham, in Spanish Fork, Utah. He was married to Maud Dixon, in 1924 and they had four children. Fred Markham was an architect, and an active member of the Republican Party. In 1932, he served as the delegate to the Republican National Convention from Utah.

The Fred L. Markham papers contain correspondence concerning the Huish-Gilhool Theater in Payson, and blueprints from the J. C. Penny building in Price, Utah. Also included are oversize architectural drawings.

      Mary Waters, the donor, had a maiden name of Gilhool, therefore, it seems that these drawings may have been handed down to Mary Waters as a family possession.
