The creator and original chain of ownership of the majority of materials in this collection is unknown.

Acquisition Information

In many cases the chain of ownership of the postcards in this collection is unknown. Many postcards originated from the Montana Souvenir Company, Morton J. Elrod, the A.M. Sterling Family, the C.J. Doherty Family, Alice Chandler, the Dragstedt Family, Robert E. Jones, Timothy Gordon, Bill and Lois Patton, Margot Fetz, and the Missoula County Parks and Recreation. Accession numbers of known inclusions: 0000-316; 1966-12; 1969-06; 1972-06; 1974-12; 1977-15; 1980-37; 1986-53; 1994-26; 2003-78; 2004-41; 2010-28; 2011-11; 2013-21; 2013-32.

Processing Note

This collection was originally processed in 2007 as one postcard album. In 2021 additional postcards from a variety of sources were added to this collection. In 2024 accession 2003-087 was processed in.

    Bob and Hedy Oswald donated this album to the University of Montana's Alumni Association in December of 1993. The album was transferred to the Archives in 1994 and was processed as Mss 679 in 2007.
