Historical Note

Owned and operated by Northern Pacific Railway and Union Pacific, the Camas Prairie Railroad was incorporated in 1909 and ran through northern Idaho to the late 1990s.

The Camas Prairie Railroad's main subdivision routes were:

Lewiston, ID to Riparia, WA Lewiston, ID to Stites, ID Spalding, ID to Grangeville, ID Orofino, ID to Headquarters, ID

It covered less than 300 miles total, but it connected the region's largest exporters of wheat and lumber. The Camas Prairie Railroad was also known as the last section to connect the eastern with the west. Not only did it transport materials, but it also was a way for people to travel across the country.

Content Description

The Camas Prairie Railroad's territory extended from northern Idaho across the state border to southeast Washington. This collection consists of time tables, correspondene, and bulletins from the Camas Prairie Railroad between 1909 and 1997.
