Historical Note

Megan Tyndall was the granddaughter of Reverend John Roberts, an Episcopal missionary on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Tyndall (1934-2007) was born in Lander, Wyoming, and attended the University of Wyoming in the 1950s. She was a teacher and librarian and conducted research into her family history.

Collection contains research files gathered by Megan Tyndall for a book that was never completed about her grandfather, Reverend John Roberts, and his work among the Arapaho and Shoshone Indians at St. Michael's Mission, Ft. Washakie, on the Wind River Reservation. Research files include publications, articles, clippings, correspondence, photographs, and manuscripts written by Tyndall that relate directly or indirectly to John Roberts, Shoshone and Arapaho history, the Wind River Indian Reservation, Sacagawea, the Sun Dance, St. Michael’s Mission, and the Episcopal Church.
