Historical Note
Clyde Elmer Williams (1893- ) graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in chemical engineering in 1915. From 1924-1925 he worked as a metallurgist for the government of Argentina and from 1925-1929 he was chief metallurgist for the Columbia Steel Corporation. From 1929-1953 Williams served as director and president of the Battelle Memorial Institute, a research foundation. He left the Battelle Memorial Institute in 1958 to form Clyde Williams and Company, a consulting firm.

Collection contains correspondence (1941-1965); speeches and articles on metallurgy, the Battelle Memorial Institute and chemical research (1929-1961); news clippings (1930-1971); and miscellaneous certificates.
