Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Grant McConnell (1915-1993) was born Leslie Grant McConnell on June 27, 1915. He was an early member of the North Cascades Conservation Council and McConnell and his wife, Jane, promoted the creation of a national park in the North Cascades. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, McConnell and others in the Council pressed for preservation of the wild character of the Stehekin Valley against practices they felt were unsound. He wrote a book, "Stehekin, a Valley in Time," and was active in the Stehekin Valley Protection Committee. He died in California on September 27, 1993.
