Historical Note
George Whitaker was born on 18 March 1820 in Blakedown, Worcestershire, England, to Thomas and Sophia Turner Whitaker. When he was about twenty-one, he joined the Mormon Church. In 1845, he emigrated to the United States, specifically Missouri and Iowa. He married Eveline P. Robinson a year later, then in 1847, they traveled to Utah. George Whitaker died in March 1907.
Content Description
The George Whitaker autobiography details the life of George Whitaker (1820-1907), a convert to the LDS Church who emigrated from England to the United States. The autobiography details the period of his life spent in Missouri and Iowa preparing to travel to the west. It concludes with his arrival in Utah. An appendix, added by a decendant, briefly outlines the rest of Whitaker's life.
