Historical Note

The Washington State University campus Safety Division encompasses several branches of law and safety enforcement. Parking, police and fire protection, the University Sanitarian and Emergency Services (ambulance, fire, and police) are all part of the unit.

Administrative Information

Arrangement

The records of the Safety Division have been arranged in a single series, an Alphabetical Subject File, 1950-1980. The bulk of the material covers the period 1968-1979. The papers contain: Ambulance information and call records, a large general correspondence section, memos on various regulations, violation records, traffic information, hazardous material regulations, equipment files and records of remodeling projects on several University buildings. The original headings of the Safety Division have been retained and all files are arranged alphabetically by subject.

Acquisition Information

The records of the Safety Division (UA 82-25) were transferred to the Washington State University Libraries in September 1982 in accordance with the established records schedule.

The records were processed by Barbara Kovarik Gahl in June of 1983.
