Historical Note

In 1901 John B. Long and his brother Fred I. Long formed the Long Brothers Company in Great Falls, Montana. The company was a farming and ranching company in northern Montana that raised sheep. J.B. Long also had predecessor companies in similar businesses: J.B. Long & Company and the Long & Jamieson Brothers Live Stock Company (formed 1897 with Gordon R. Jamieson). The company was dissolved in 1912, and Fred carried on the business under the name of F.I. Long and Company.
