The original items from box 1, folders 8, 25, 26 have been removed and placed in Reserve. Access must be given by the Manuscripts Curator and by appointment. An archivist must remain with the items if being used. Photocopies are available in the collection for research use.

Historical Note

George W. Reed was born in London, England, on 7 April 1833. He emigrated to Utah in 1862 and became manager of the Deseret News. He left that position to found the Salt Lake Tribune in 1871. Reed stayed with this paper until he sold his interest to P. H. Lannan in 1882. He married Elizabeth Tuddenham in 1866 and passed away 1 December 1909.
